That is roughly a third of the passenger load of the largest ships calling here, and it is the single most useful fact about your day ashore. Almost every warning written about Grenada port days is written about crowds you will not be part of.

Most Grenada port-day advice is defensive. Beat the queue. Avoid the peak. Walk further down the beach than everyone else. That advice is written with 5,000-guest ships in mind, and if you are sailing on Voyager, a good deal of it simply does not apply to you.

With under 2,000 guests, and not all of them going ashore at once, Grenada on a Voyager day is a manageable island rather than a congested one. The planning question changes from “how do I avoid the crowd” to “what do I actually want from the day”.

When Marella Voyager calls at Grenada

Nine calls across the season, which makes Voyager one of the more frequent visitors to St. George’s. TUI’s own Grenada destination page confirms Marella sails here; the individual dates come from a schedule aggregator.

Date

Source confidence

27 November 2026

Schedule aggregator – verify

11 December 2026

Schedule aggregator – verify

26 December 2026

Schedule aggregator – verify

8 January 2027

Schedule aggregator – verify

21 January 2027

Schedule aggregator – verify

4 February 2027

Schedule aggregator – verify

19 February 2027

Schedule aggregator – verify

5 March 2027

Schedule aggregator – verify

18 March 2027

Schedule aggregator – verify

None of these individual dates is confirmed against an official Marella source, and we are not going to present them as though they were. What we can say is that Marella sails to Grenada this season on TUI’s own account. Your booking confirmation is the authority for your date.

Ship time is your responsibility. Published arrival and departure times change. Your cruise line and onboard app are the only authority for your all-aboard time. Check them on the morning of the call, and build your plan backwards from that time — not from the times on this page.

The all-inclusive trap

Marella fares are typically sold on an all-inclusive basis, and that quietly changes how people behave ashore. When everything aboard is already paid for, the port day becomes the one part of the holiday that requires a separate decision – and it is the part that most often gets the least thought.

Two things follow from that, and they pull in opposite directions.

The first is that the ship is a genuinely comfortable default, so the bar for going ashore feels higher than it would on a fare where lunch costs extra. The second is that Grenada is a short, easy, rewarding call where the bar is easily cleared. The terminal puts you within a walk of a real town, not a shopping compound built for ships.

Check what your fare actually includes before you sail, and treat the port day as a decision worth ten minutes rather than one to make at the gangway.

Three plans for a small-ship day

All three assume roughly eight usable hours once disembarkation and the all-aboard buffer are taken out. Our Grenada cruise port guide covers what is walkable from the terminal if you would rather start from the geography than from a plan.

Option 1: St. George’s, unhurried

St. George’s harbour getting on with its own day. On a small-ship call this is what you walk into, rather than a queue. Photo: giggel, CC BY 3.0, via Wikimedia Commons.

The Grenada Ports Authority puts the Carenage around ten minutes from the terminal on foot, and on a Voyager day you will be walking into a town rather than joining a procession.

This is the plan that benefits most from the smaller ship. The places that feel pressured on a big-ship call – the market area, the waterfront restaurants, the steep streets above the harbour – are simply pleasant on this one. Our self-guided St. George’s walk has the route, including which parts are steep and what is currently closed.

Option 2: Grand Anse without the scramble

Grenada’s principal beach, and considerably more relaxed when the island is not absorbing several thousand people at once. You can afford to be less strategic about where you put your towel than the big-ship guides suggest.

Agree the return arrangement before you settle in. That advice survives regardless of ship size.

Option 3: cover more of the island

Here is where the small ship pays off most. On a big-ship day, transport is the bottleneck – taxis queue and the popular routes clog. On a Voyager day the roads are quieter, which makes covering ground a realistic ambition rather than an optimistic one.

A pre-booked ride suits confident adult road riders after a fit check and route briefing. It is not a soft option: Grenada drives on the left, the roads are narrow and hilly, and there is no cycling infrastructure. Our e-bike rental guide is honest about who should choose something else, and our transport comparison weighs it against taxis, buses and the ship’s own excursions.

Explore Grenada for less with friends

Standard self-guided e-bike day rentals are priced per rider, per day, and the rate drops as your group grows.

Group size

Price per e-bike, per day

You save

1-3 riders

$40

Standard rate

4-5 riders

$35 each

$5 each (12.5%)

6+ riders

$30 each

$10 each (25%)

A group of six riding at the standard rate would pay $240 for the day. At the 6+ group rate the same six riders pay $180 — a saving of $60 on one day’s riding. The discount is applied to the whole booking, so it is worth asking the two friends who are undecided before you book.

These rates cover standard self-guided day rentals. Guided, private and custom tours are priced separately.

Collection and return times

Standard collection is 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 2pm on Saturday.

Two things matter if you are arriving by ship:

Saturday returns are extended to 5pm for cruise passengers. A Saturday port call is not limited by the 2pm shop close — tell us your ship and date when you book.

Sunday rides can be arranged on request. The shop is closed to walk-ins on Sundays, but contact us with your date and we will make arrangements where we can.

If your ship docks before 9am, say so when you book. Most Caribbean calls arrive between 7:30am and 8am, so there is usually a short gap before collection — easily absorbed with a coffee on the Carenage, provided you have planned for it rather than discovered it.

Ready to ride?

Check e-bike availability with Grenada Urban E-Mobility and tell us your dates and group size. If you are arriving by ship, include the vessel name and your arrival date so we can line the handover up with your time ashore.

Independent or the Marella excursion?

The usual trade-off applies, with one adjustment for ship size.

The ship’s excursion carries the boarding guarantee: if it runs late, getting you back is Marella’s responsibility rather than yours. That is worth real money to some travellers and nothing at all to others.

The adjustment is that the independent option is less risky on a small-ship day than the general advice implies, because the transport bottleneck that makes independent plans fragile on a big-ship call is largely absent. If you have been put off going independent by warnings written about larger ships, they were not written about your day.

Compare on genuine duration, what is included and the cancellation terms. Boarding responsibility on an independent plan is always yours.

Groups travelling together

Interested in a guided or private e-bike experience?

Tour pricing varies with your group size, itinerary, duration, guide requirements and cruise timing, so we quote each one rather than publishing a single figure.

Contact us for current tour pricing and availability. To get an accurate quote first time, tell us:

your preferred date

how many riders

your ship, if you are visiting on a cruise

roughly how much time you have ashore

the places you would most like to see

whether you want a private ride or are happy in a shared group

Practical notes for Voyager passengers

Disembarkation is quick on a ship this size; you may be ashore earlier than you expect

Carry water and sun protection – shade near the waterfront is limited

Some cash is useful at the market and with smaller vendors

Confirm your all-aboard time from the onboard programme on the morning of the call

A shorter security queue at the end of the day is one more small-ship benefit, but do not bank on it

The Grenada National Museum currently reports permanent closure, so do not plan around it

The one-line version

You are on one of the easier ships to be on in Grenada. Most of the crowd-avoidance advice you will read does not apply to you, so spend the planning effort on deciding what you want instead of on defending against a queue.

Sources and verification

We link the primary sources behind the factual claims on this page so you can check them yourself before you travel.

TUI / Marella Cruises – Grenada cruises (official destination page)

Cruise Timetables – St. George’s schedule (Tier 2 aggregator)

Grenada Ports Authority – Cruise Terminus

Grenada Tourism Authority – Grand Anse Beach

Marella Voyager brings a fraction of the crowd the big ships do.
