Six cannot. As the group grows, the plan needs a single decision-maker, a fixed return time and a pace set by the least confident person in it \u2014 and at that point a private, guided experience often works better than everyone organising themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a threshold on a port day, and it sits at about four people. Below it, a group can make decisions on the move: change plans, wait for someone, take a detour, and still be back comfortably. Above it, every decision takes longer, the pace gets set by whoever is struggling most, and a day that was supposed to be relaxed turns into low-level logistics management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">None of that is a reason to travel in a smaller group. It is a reason to plan differently depending on the size of yours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For two<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A couple has the easiest port day available, and the main risk is under-using it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can genuinely decide over breakfast, change your mind at the pier, and improvise from there. Agree a meeting point and a time.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At four or five riders, our group rate starts to apply, which is the first point where the arithmetic rewards keeping the group together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For six or more<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Six people is a different kind of day, and pretending otherwise is how groups end up stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Practical realities to plan for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><strong>Everything takes longer.<\/strong> Ordering, paying, gathering, setting off. Budget for it rather than being surprised by it.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>One decision-maker is essential<\/strong>, and everyone needs to know who it is.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>The pace is set by the slowest or least confident member<\/strong>, whether you plan for that or not.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Stagger anything that needs individual attention<\/strong>, such as fitting and briefing riders, rather than compressing it into one hurried group session.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Book ahead.<\/strong> Six of anything is rarely available on the spot at a busy cruise berth.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At six or more riders our standard rental rate drops to its lowest tier, which is usually the point at which a group realises it is cheaper per head than the alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Self-guided or guided?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the real decision for a group, and it is worth thinking about honestly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Self-guided works when<\/strong> everyone is confident and independent, the group agrees easily, and you want the freedom to change your mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A guided or private experience works better when<\/strong> the group is larger, the confidence levels are mixed, you have a specific list of places to fit into a fixed window, or you simply do not want to be the person managing everyone&#8217;s day. The discount is applied to the whole booking, so it is worth asking the two friends who are undecided before you book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These rates cover standard self-guided day rentals. Guided, private and custom tours are priced separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tiers are worth planning around. Crossing from five riders to six moves the <em>whole<\/em> group onto the lower rate \u2014 it is one of the few situations in travel where inviting more people makes it cheaper for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Collection and return times<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Standard collection is <strong>9am to 5pm Monday to Friday<\/strong>, and <strong>9am to 2pm on Saturday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two things matter if you are arriving by ship:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><strong>Saturday returns are extended to 5pm for cruise passengers.<\/strong> A Saturday port call is not limited by the 2pm shop close &#8212; tell us your ship and date when you book.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Sunday rides can be arranged on request.<\/strong> The shop is closed to walk-ins on Sundays, but contact us with your date and we will make arrangements where we can.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your ship docks before 9am, say so when you book. Your cruise line and onboard app are the only authority for your all-aboard time. Check them on the morning of the call, and build your plan backwards from that time &#8212; not from the times on this page.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The larger the group, the earlier the return time should be. A rule that works: add ten minutes of buffer for every person beyond four.
