The case for Grand Anse<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Grand Anse is the beach the Grenada Tourism Authority describes as the island’s principal stretch of sand, and it earns the billing: a long, pale curve of beach with calm water and a view back towards the hills. If the reason Grenada was on your itinerary at all was the Caribbean sea, this is where you should be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The key to a good Grand Anse day is committing to it. Go early, stay, swim properly, eat there, and let a short stroll along the Carenage on your way back be a bonus rather than a plan. Beach days reward depth, not coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two practical points. First, sort out your return before you settle in: know how you are getting back and roughly what time you need to leave. Second, agree that leave-the-beach time with everyone before anyone gets in the water. A beach is a remarkably effective device for making an hour disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case for St. George’s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

St. George’s is one of the better-looking harbour towns in the Caribbean, and it has the considerable advantage of starting where you are standing. The Grenada Ports Authority describes the Melville Street cruise terminal as sitting beside the Welcome Centre, shopping and taxi pickup, with the Carenage about a ten-minute walk away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The town suits a short call, a late disembarkation, a mixed-pace group or an uncertain forecast. It is also the better choice if you like your travel days unhurried \u2014 you can always extend, and you are never far from the ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The one thing to know is that St. George’s is steep. The waterfront is level and easy; almost everything above it involves a real climb in real heat. Plan along the water unless your whole group is happy going up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why “both” usually fails<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On paper, beach in the morning and town in the afternoon looks efficient. In practice it means two transfers, two lots of waiting, a change of clothes, and a permanent low-level anxiety about the clock. You get a rushed swim and a rushed wander instead of one good thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is one situation where both genuinely works: a long call, a group that is confident under its own transport, and no fixed appointments. If you are riding, the transfer between the two stops is part of the day rather than dead time \u2014 which is the main reason people choose an e-bike for a cruise day<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
